The candidate will perform experimental focal ischemia surgery in rodents and perform other biological/molecular biology techniques such as Western blotting, tissue culture, PCR, etc., as well as lab managerial duties.
COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST ENGR/ACAD AFFRS/DIVERSITY AFFR Madison
The Diversity Affairs Office (DAO) in the College of Engineering (CoE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, attracts and supports academically talented women and students from groups historically underrepresented in engineering. The Communications Specialist will join the DAO and the CoE Student Services team, and will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of communication strategies and events that support the office, along with reception and office administration duties. This position requires an understanding of the sensitivities of DAO stakeholders and the ability to work with a variety campus and community partners. Specific duties include supporting a welcoming and service-oriented atmosphere, administrative support of student workers and support of student organizations associated with the DAO. This position supports the Leaders in Engineering Diversity (LEED) Scholars program and other targeted undergraduate events and pre-college student recruiting such as Engineering Summer Program and other outreach initiatives. This position provides high quality support to DAO faculty, staff, students and visitors and requires considerable independent initiative, judgement, logistical problem-solving and analytic ability. This work is performed under supervision of the Director of Diversity Research and Initiatives and is responsive to needs of Assistant Directors managing precollege and undergraduate programs.
SENIOR ASSOCIATE, STATE SMART TRANSPORTATION INITIATIVE L&S/SOCIOLOGY/SOCIOLOGY Madison
The State Smart Transportation Initiative (SSTI), a project of COWS and Smart Growth America, promotes transportation practices that advance environmental sustainability and equitable economic development, while maintaining high standards of governmental efficiency and transparency. SSTI is currently undertaking a variety of projects that involve research and technical assistance to help modernize policy and practice at state DOTs and other transportation agencies.
