Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferably specializing in education or related field involving training and assessment expertise (i.e. cognitive psychology, industrial engineering, neuroscience, etc.)

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Training and experience with research design as well as quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods preferred. Experience or interest in medical education, especially across the continuum of student and physician learning is desirable. In addition, the candidate should have experience and interest in grant writing as well as an interest in publishing and presenting scholarly works in medical education.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant post-graduate, professional work experience. A minimum of 7 years of post-graduate, professional work experience is required for appointment at the senior level.

Position Summary:

The Department of Surgery is seeking a collaborative educator to work in the Medical Education and Research Program. The candidate will work with support from the Faculty Associate in Educational Research and Vice Chair of Education in performing research in medical education to ultimately improve the education of medical students, residents, fellows and practicing clinicians.

Additional Information:

The desired candidate should have a demonstrated ability in curriculum development, instructional design, implementation, assessment and evaluation. The candidate should have well-developed, relationship-building skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, and strong written and oral communication skills.
