Job Summary:

This position functions under general supervision to provide accurate and timely fiscal management reports to the Department Administrator, Assistant Administrator, Chairman, Faculty and Staff providing advice, analysis, interpretation of rules, regulations, policies and guidelines of varying complexity on appropriate handling, reporting and expenditure of funds and to process requests for reimbursements and purchases.

Duties of this position involve responsible accounting and record keeping, and problem solving, which requires the application of established accounting principles, policies and procedures for four agencies: the clinical group practice (UW Medical Foundation - UWMF), clinical operations (UW Hospital and Clinics - UWHC), and academic operations (University UW), and fund raising operations (UW Foundation-UWF) of the Department of Anesthesiology. The incumbent will also be responsible for processing reimbursement requests for clinical anesthetist services.

This position requires demonstrated knowledge of financial regulations and application and interpretation of rules and regulations enacted by each agency and its associated programs. The Financial Specialist is expected to participate in a system of internal controls and checks and balances appropriate to this size department. Primary duties include support of operational services, payment of invoices, bookkeeping, funds accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting activities for a broad variety of funding sources and cost distribution polices and procedures.

Two-year associate degree in accounting from an accredited post-secondary school or commensurate experience and training preferred.

Schedule Comment:
