Advertised Salary:

Minimum $42,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Degree preferred in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or related area.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

One year of higher education experience in academic advising, student affairs, student services, counseling or related area required (including graduate work). Willingness to work flexible hours required (including evenings and weekends as necessary).

Additional Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Experience working with low-income, first-generation, and/or underrepresented students
- Knowledge of issues of equity and diversity in educational settings and awareness of issues affecting low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, group facilitation, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with computer applications including Windows-based computing systems and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to exercise initiative and propose new elements to enhance programming for undergraduate students
- Detail-oriented, strong communication skills, takes direction well, and works both independently and in a team environment

Position Summary:

The program is one of only a small number of university-based programs that works with students at all aspects of the educational pipeline beginning middle school, high school, and ultimately enrollment in the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

UW-Madison's Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) is recognized nationally as one of the largest university-based pre-college pipeline programs in the country. Celebrating over fifteen years of service, PEOPLE provides year-round academic enrichment programs for highly motivated Wisconsin students of economic, ethnic, and racially diverse backgrounds. The program is one of only a small number of university-based programs that works with students at all aspects of the educational pipeline beginning as early as elementary school, through to middle school, high school, and ultimately enrollment in the University of Wisconsin-Madison. PEOPLE is one of UW-Madison's most community-centered initiatives, working with over 1000 families across the state. The mission of the program is to enhance educational opportunity and increase diversity by intervening in the lives of young people early and consistently as an out-of-school time (after school/summer) complement to the efforts of teachers, schools, parents, and community members.
