|Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required in computer sciences, biological, medical, social science or engineering or another area with experience in biological, medical, social science and engineering.
Provide technology support, assistance and direct training to faculty, researchers, administrative staff, and students affiliated with the UW-Madison Department of Neurology. Consult with faculty to develop and support applications for research applications, proposals, and protocols. Support the clinical service applications. Help develop and support in house web applications written mostly in PHP and .NET with Microsoft SQL and MySQL databases. Keep up to date with new technology and work with the leadership team to determine needs of the department.
Computer hardware and software support in network environment, preferably in higher education or health care, with demonstrated understanding of technology support.
Experience supporting a variety of desktop, laptop, and mobile device hardware in an enterprise environment, particularly Dell and Apple computers, Dell and HP printers, and Apple iOS and Android mobile devices.
Working knowledge of Windows Group Policy and Active Directory, Windows 2008/2012/2016 Server, SSCM, Microsoft Data Protection Manager, Hyper-V virtualization, Citrix/XenApp server, Linux/Unix, SQL, PHP, .NET and Java is preferred.
Support experience includes: desktop and laptop computers using both the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems; client/server applications in an enterprise network environment, including office suites from Microsoft, Google, and Apple, major email/calendaring software platforms and clients, graphics and multimedia applications (particularly Adobe Creative Suite), and multiple web browsers; LANs and data communications over wired and wireless Ethernet; use of local, network, and cloud-based file storage, including moving information between major computing platforms; installing and updating operating systems, applications, and drivers; and security solutions such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, and personal firewall applications.
Preferred support experience includes: remote access and support solutions, including Microsoft RDP, Cisco VPNs, and Citrix; documentation using wikis and other collaborative solutions; issue-tracking software such as Web Help Desk, JIRA ; UW-Madison tools such as WiscMail and NetID administration preferred.
Knowledge of education (FERPA) and health care privacy laws (HIPAA) is preferred.
Infrequent travel between the Medical Foundation Centennial building and Medical Sciences Center will be required. Must provide own transportation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
