Advertised Salary:

Minimum $40,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:

Minimum of an associate degree required in graphic design, fine art or a related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of two years of experience in graphic design. Experience designing informational and marketing materials for educational programs, public events and research projects, including reports, brochures, fliers, posters, email and web pages. Experience in offset printing process and preparing documents for image setting. Extensive knowledge of and skill with design and desktop publishing in both PC and Mac platforms. Experience with Adobe CS5 Design Premium (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver). Working knowledge of HTML, PHP, and content management systems.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success and:
* Knowledge of the principles and processes used in graphic design and the production of print and electronic publications.
* Traditional and computer illustration skills.
* A strong work ethic including the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Ability to successfully manage a high volume workload with shifting priorities and strict deadlines.
* Willingness to perform other assignments as needed.

Position Summary:

The Graphics Designer position resides in the newly created Office of Strategic Communications and is responsible for conceptualizing and designing solutions for the needs of the Office; maintaining a uniform graphic identity for the Nelson Institute following UW-Madison branding guidelines. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Communications and will be expected to collaborate heavily with members of the Nelson Institute's Senior Leadership team.

Additional Information:

Renewal is likely, but contingent upon funding, program need, and satisfactory performance.
