Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) required, preferably in non-profit management, business, marketing/communications, or development.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in fund raising, non-profit or business development, marketing, or a related field is required. Experience in a research or higher education setting is preferred. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships with diverse organizations andpeople from all organizational levels.

Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery is a transdisciplinary research institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison exploring problems across disciplines at the interfaces of research, education, outreach, and business.

Research at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID) is centered on the work of more than 20 faculty investigators working in a broad range of scientific disciplines. Additionally, WID is spearheading several initiatives on campus, state, and national levels.

Reporting to the WID Director, the Development Specialist is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of all aspects of the institute's development efforts including strategic planning, donor relations, and stewardship of major gifts.

WID provides an outstanding working environment that emphasizes collaboration and innovation.

Additional Information:

This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours as well as travel.
