Highly qualified candidate will have:
-Detailed knowledge of information technology auditing practices, data network design, and topologies.
-Expert level knowledge of modern data network technologies, enterprise storage technologies (SAN, NAS etc.), server consolidation technologies, databases and disaster recovery technologies
-Expert level knowledge and experience in Linux (Ubuntu/SUSE)/Windows operating systems as well as their security vulnerabilities
-Expert level knowledge of and experience in virtualization and thin client solutions preferably Citrix XenServer and XenDesktop
-Detailed knowledge and extensive skills in troubleshooting LANs (wired and wireless) and data communications, particularly Ethernet using TCP/IP protocols
-Expert level knowledge of complex computing management systems including system administration, performance monitoring, problem management, change management, records management and disaster prevention and recovery.

Position Summary:

The mission of University Health Services is to collaborate in the university's work of learning and service, through:
- preserving and enhancing health and well-being, in partnership with students and the campus community, and
- creating and disseminating resources that promote healthy people and communities.

The mission of the Information Technology team is to assist UHS staff in accomplishing the organization's mission through provision of electronic based solutions and services.

This position works with the Information Technology Manager, or designee, and must have the ability to work under broad policy guidance. This position is responsible for proactively communicating security risk, threats and vulnerabilities and to recommend solutions to the leadership and technical staff and to monitor the stability of security controls. In addition, this position is responsible for the technical architecture, design and administration of UHS computer servers and networking infrastructure.

UHS' technical infrastructure utilizes Citrix XenServer hosting 50+ virtual servers and 200+ desktop images. The server infrastructure consists of Windows application servers for end user computing, Linux servers that support websites and proxy systems, enterprise class firewalls, fiber channel storage area network devices and routers/switches. The task categories include maintaining the security of UHS? networks and servers, server/workstation virtualization, operating system software maintenance, hardware configuration, network maintenance and thin client access.

This position requires in-depth technical understanding and proficiency in a broad range of computing technologies. This position has access to confidential and private information and requires understanding of the applicable privacy laws and governing policies included HIPAA, FERPA and PCI. The incumbent in this position must maintain expert knowledge of emerging electronic technologies and vulnerabilities.

Special note: University Health Services is the student health service of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and, as such, operates as an ambulatory health care facility accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Staff of UHS are expected to understand that patient care and information about patient care require a high degree of privacy, security, and confidentiality. An employee in this position will necessarily come in contact with highly sensitive information. Misuse or abuse of this information is considered grounds for disciplinary action, including termination
