|Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
3 years of experience with exposure to HR, payroll and finance in a university environment preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP)

Knowledge of complex university administration, purchasing, financial management, payroll, and auditing policies and standards.

Knowledge and skill using computer systems and applications such as HRS, email, spreadsheets, word processing, databases, WISDM, Wisper, PVS Net, MDS-PAT, MS Word and MS Excel.
Strong skills in office practices and procedures for record keeping, data collection/retrieval and workflow tracking.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with Chair, PIs, faculty, administrator, staff, campus and division accounting services personnel, vendors, and donors.
Under general supervision of the Department Administrator, this position will join an integrated administrative team in a large, dynamic academic department.
This position provides assistance with a wide range of activities, including administrative, HR/payroll and financial support; policy development, public relations, and communications. This position will lean or assist with the coordination and delivery of service to the Department by administrative staff, and participate with staff in continuous improvement of the Department. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and analyze, university and college policies and procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations relating but not limited to; instruction, student services, research and sponsored programs, governance activities, human resources, accounting and purchasing, travel and expense payments, reporting and record maintenance. This position also requires excellent public relations and professional skills, project management, organizational skills, and the ability to interact positively and independently with university administration, faculty, staff, students and the community at large.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) enrolls approximately 800 undergraduate students and approximately 260 MS and PhD graduate students from all over the world. We have 31 faculty, 14 academic staff, 7 classified staff, and expenditures exceeding $10 million annually with funding designations including but not limited to: 101,133,135,136,144,150,161 & 233. Its largest affiliated research center, the ERC, has 5 staff members and annual expenditures exceeding $3 million, with funding designation including but not limited to: 101,133,136,144 & 233.
