This person will join an energetic faculty at the Mead Witter School of Music that values collaboration, equity, diversity, and inclusion in its work of preparing music teachers and music teacher educators. Requirements include an earned Ph.D. in music education or a cognate field by August 20, 2018, a documented record of 1-5 years of successful k-12 or pre-k-12 music teaching, and an emerging or established record of scholarship in music education with the potential for developing an ongoing program of research with national and international reach.

Position Summary:

The Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking exemplary candidates for a tenure-track faculty position. The School seeks individuals who are highly motivated, engaged, and creative with a well-articulated agenda for scholarly productivity, teaching expertise, and potential for leadership in the field. Appointment start date will be August 20, 2018. Appointment will be full time for the nine-month academic year. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Additional Information:

The Mead Witter School of Music, located within the College of Letters & Science, serves over 300 majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels offering the B.A., B.S., B.M., M.A., M.M., D.M.A., and Ph.D. degrees and serves hundreds of non-majors through multiple ensembles and course offerings. Along with the UW-Madison at large, the School of Music is committed to creating a diverse, collegial, and inclusive educational, scholarly, and performance community of faculty, staff, and students and to embody through its teaching and research the aims of the Wisconsin Idea. The School seeks candidates who identify with groups currently underrepresented within Schools of Music and academe at large. In October of 2016, the School broke ground on the Hamel Music Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed as a gateway for arts on campus. This new space will contain a large concert hall, a recital hall, lobby, and a large rehearsal space for use by students, faculty, and staff and will contribute to the School's on-going engagement with audiences on and off campus.
