Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Well qualified applicants will have demonstrated high quality research with publications in top tier journals, and will have demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.

Candidate with new or anticipated Ph.D. degrees will have research under way that is likely to result in one or more publications in top tier journals, and will have presentation skills that suggest future excellence in teaching.

Candidates for tenure rank will possess academic credentials to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.

Preferred starting rank is at the senior Assistant Professor level or above. Ability to teach MBA level courses is important and interest in teaching executive-level courses (Executive MBA, Evening MBA, and non-degree) is desirable. Teaching interests can include the MBA core course in operations management, and MBA/undergraduate elective courses in service operations management, healthcare operations, business analytics, global operations management and strategy, project management, or supply chain management. The annual teaching load is three courses.

Position Summary:

The Operations & Information Management (Suply chain Managment) Department in the Wisconsin School of Business seeks a research scholar at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the field of Operations & Information/Supply Chain Management.

Job Duties:
-Create and maintain a strong program of research
-Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses
-Provide classroom and individual instruction for undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students
-Contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the department. University and community service will be expected as appropriate.

The OIM department offers a PhD program, a day-time MBA and an undergraduate major in Operations and Technology Management, and an undergraduate major in Information Systems. We also have a presence in the Evening and Executive MBA programs. Our faculty members specialize in operations & supply chain management, sustainability, healthcare operations management, operations research, managerial economics, and information systems. The department administers the Erdman Center for Operations and Technology Management ( and has close connections with the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management (, both of which are founded on the principles of cross-functional perspectives and industry relations. Faculty members also maintain links with units outside the School, including the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the Center for Quick Response Manufacturing, the Industrial and Systems Engineering department, the Manufacturing Systems Engineering program, and the UW E-Business Consortium.
