Degree and area of specialization:

Undergraduate degree in a scientific field will be helpful, but is not required

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Prefer 2 years of experience deploying Windows systems
Prefer experience in an academic environment

Skills and knowledge
- Ability to install and configure Microsoft Windows software and drivers in a large network environment
- Ability to manage desktops with unified imaging, using tools such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
- Familiarity with software package and delivery toolkits, such as Microsoft Application Virtualization (AppV)
- Experience configuring desktops and software with Group Policy Objects
- Experience with deployment and configuration of Windows Server
- Familiarity with managed printing services
- Familiarity with XenApp and XenDesktops or similar is helpful
- Working knowledge of Linux systems is helpful
- Working knowledge of VMware and HyperV systems is helpful
- Successful collaborator, able to leverage services across organizations
- Strong problem solving skills
- Great written and verbal communication skills

Position Summary:

This is a Windows system administrator position in the Computer-Aided Engineering Center (CAE) working with the primary Windows system administrator and College of Engineering Departmental Support staff (DSPs). This position will work on areas of instructional computing support, such as departmental teaching labs and remote access to software (currently XenApp). The goal of this position is to enable additional Microsoft Windows based computing in instructional and administrative settings through tool implementation, techniques, and processes.

A successful candidate will have prior experience with a variety of software and hardware and will embrace the opportunity to learn and grow through supporting complex science and engineering. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience interacting well with a broad range of team members, customers, and ability levels.
