Degree and area of specialization:

Degree preferred

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

* Minimum of three years' experience in retail operations, including using and leveraging inventory management tools, retail POS, and/or financial reporting tools. Experience in higher education retail operations strongly preferred.
* Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
* Knowledge of budgeting, finances, analysis and forecasting.
* Demonstrated experience developing customer-centric operational or project plans and strategies.
* Experience building teams, coaching staff, and establishing goals.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across the organization, lead cross-functional teams, and influence without direct authority.

* Bachelor's Degree
* Demonstrated experience training and coaching effective sales and customer service skillsets.
* Experience establishing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships with stakeholders, customers, staff, and vendors.
* Experience managing and prioritizing projects that range in complexity.
* Knowledge of DoIT's Guiding Principles and Operating Units.
* Experience presenting ideas/concepts in front of peers, executives, and large groups.

Position Summary:

Under the general guidance of the Assistant Director of User Services, the Tech Store Supervisor provides day to day management of the DoIT Tech Store, Walk-In Help Desk and Repair teams to support the academic and research needs of students, departments and faculty/staff on the UW Madison and UW system campuses.

The Tech Store Supervisor leads a team of 12 to 15 full time employees and 20 to 25 student employees and has budgetary oversight of a $1.3mil annual budget. The supervisor is responsible for developing and maintaining a high-performing team of dedicated professionals with the skills, drive, and capacity necessary to deliver an exceptional customer experience. This includes day to day operational management of the Tech Store's three retail locations in close partnership with the Product Management team to provide a holistic approach to our service portfolio and customers.

This position serves as the primary backup person in the absence of the Assistant Director.
