Required Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience developing queries, reports and providing analysis on datasets.
* Demonstrated ability to develop metrics or key performance indicators.
* Experience presenting and explaining data or metrics to a nontechnical audience.
* Demonstrated track record of providing strong customer service and engaging with various customer stakeholder groups.
* Demonstrated experience with interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to work across the organization, lead cross-functional teams, and influence without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with data dashboards and data visualizations.
* Experience developing and implementing process improvement projects or initiatives.
* Experience with evaluating and analyzing large or disparate datasets.
* Experience communicating and making recommendations to leadership to enhance data-informed decision making.

Position Summary:

The Data & Metrics Specialist works at the department level to provide data, reporting, and analysis for all business groups within User Services to ensure the effective operations and customer service delivery. This position works directly with the User Services leadership team on future forecasting and customer data insights for process improvement management. This position develops recommendations to enhance standardization amongst data systems and processes and to inform managerial decisions

This position is also responsible for owning the development and implementation of all User Services metrics, key performance indicators, and dashboards. A key component of this is to develop data visualizations, including dashboards, to distribute and share with key leadership team members on business models, operational functions, etc. This position will identify and lead key process improvement projects and initiatives derived from departmental metrics and key performance indicators. This position reports directly to the User Services Director.

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) provides technology services to the University of Wisconsin -Madison and a more limited set of services to UW System and other units of state government. DoIT employs approximately 900 people and has an operating budget of over $110 million. This position is located in the User Services Department and reports to the Director of User Services
