Degree and area of specialization:

J.D. degree with strong academic credentials.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least three years of law practice experience. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and collegially as part of a team. A current law license and experience teaching legal research and writing are strongly preferred.

Position Summary:

Legal-writing instructors teach the required 3-credit-hour Legal Research and Writing courses, which simulate various aspects of law practice, including analysis and reasoning, research sources and strategy, predictive and persuasive writing, citation format, oral presentations, advocacy, and other lawyering skills. Instructors on occasion may also be expected to teach other skills courses or workshops and to carry additional student-advising duties.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month position, which may carry the title of Associate Lecturer, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer. Teachers are expected to work full time at the law school during normal business hours throughout the year except on vacation and leave days. The appointment is renewable after an initial probation period.
