Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum three years of System Administration experience working in a professional IT environment.

Highly qualified candidates will have extensive experience in the following areas:
- Working with server virtualization technologies including either/or VMWare or Citrix;
- Managing and administering Linux servers, including their security vulnerabilities;
- Managing and troubleshooting networks and LANS (primarily TCP/IP), firewall rulesets, and VPNs;
- Performing system administration activities such as backups, restores, capacity planning, performance management, change management and problem management.
- Azure cloud infrastructure and platform services

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the manager of the Operations and Support Services (OSS) unit of the Administrative Information Management Services (AIMS) department, this Server Team position is responsible for administration, support, maintenance and management of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration?s (VCFA) IT infrastructure services. This position proactively communicates security risks, threats and vulnerabilities to AIMS management and recommends solutions. This position also investigates, recommends, and implements new services and the business processes that support them. This position implements solutions that are consistent with the technical standards, policies and procedures approved by the Division and Campus IT groups.

Particular responsibilities of this position include: Administering, supporting, maintaining and monitoring VCFA?s applications and infrastructure services and the servers on which they run; Administering and maintaining firewall rulesets and VPN concentrator access lists; Working with others to analyze, plan and implement maintenance fixes and upgrades; Working with developers and project managers to manage web applications, web services, and databases; Working with vendors to install and manage vendor applications; Investigating, recommending and implementing new services including the business processes that support them; Work and communicate professionally with others both within AIMS and on campus as necessary. This position will perform other duties as required related to providing customer support.

The application and infrastructure services that must be administered include Microsoft Azure based infrastructure and platform services, Windows Server file and print shares, Linux application servers, Microsoft Windows Active Directory/domain, IIS based web, IIS based web services, Microsoft Windows based MS-SQL and Oracle databases, Microsoft Dynamics GP and CRM, Microsoft SharePoint and various applications servers. The server infrastructure includes various HP and Dell stand-alone servers and blade centers supporting physical, VMWare and Citrix based virtual servers and virtual desktops, an HP Lefthand SAN, several Dell MD3200i PowerVault storage arrays, a fibre channel SAN, and CommVault backup system. Services are monitored using Microsoft?s SCOM.

Special Note: This position has access to confidential and private information and requires understanding of the applicable privacy laws and governing policies including HIPAA, FERPA and PCI. The successful candidate will understand that an employee in this position will necessarily come in contact with highly sensitive information which requires a high degree of privacy, security, and confidentiality. Misuse or abuse of this information is considered grounds for disciplinary action, including termination.

This position is being recruited through University Health Services and will operate under the supervision of the Operations and Support Services (OSS) unit of the Administrative Information Management Services (AIMS).
