Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Computer Science, Information Services, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least two years of experience required:
1. Web development on the Linux or MacOS platform
2. Use of Ruby on Rails to build and support web applications through the entire system development lifecycle from inception through ongoing support and maintenance, including experience in writing tests in Rails
3. Configuration, administration, and maintenance of a multi-user Content Management System
4. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
5. SQL database administration

At least one year of experience preferred:
1. Working in an educational, health care, or research environment
2. Working with clinical, financial or research data
3. Responsive web design
4. Drupal CMS administration
5. WordPress CMS administration
6. Apache website administration
7. IIS website administration
8. Native mobile app development (iOS and/or Android)

Title prefix will be determined by years of relevant work experience.

Position Summary:

As a member of the UW-Madison Department of Pediatrics Computer Services team, the Web Developer will provide web-based support for the research, education and administrative needs of the department. The mission will be to create web applications from the consideration, discussion and planning stages all the way through to programming, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support. These applications will require varying levels of interaction and integration with existing information systems infrastructure, including research and clinical databases and research computing clusters.
