Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

3-5 years of experience in student services in higher education (preferably medical education) demonstrating the following:
-Experience coordinating a broad range of services or programs within a student services or academic affairs unit; preference given to those with experience working across units or departments
-Experience working with professional, graduate, or post-secondary students, preference given to those who've worked with medical students
-Ability to build collaborative relationships with administrative leadership, faculty, and staff
-Facility working with web-based and desktop information systems, e.g. student information systems or learning management software
-Ability to develop training programs for faculty, staff, and professional students based on needs assessments
-Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment

-Ability and willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing educational environment
-Well-developed problem-solving skills: ability to find solutions with guidance from policies and previous experience
-Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, especially the ability to work with multiple different constituents: school leadership, faculty, staff, and professional students

-Exceptional writing, speaking, and listening skills with a variety of audiences including professional students, faculty, and staff

Position Summary:

The Office of Student Services in the UW School of Medicine & Public Health (SMPH) seeks Medical Student Services Coordinator to manage a variety of students services within SMPH and across the statewide campus. This position serves as the primary administrative lead for managing visiting student services. Additionally, this position will collaborate with Student Services and other Academic Affairs staff, faculty, and students to foster student engagement and leadership. This position will work closely with SMPH departments and the university at-large to provide integrated delivery of resources and services with a particular focus on the unique needs of medical students. This is an 80-100% effort position requiring regular hours with weekday attendance and active participation at various staff meetings and committees. It may involve some participation in weekend and evening activities to support student events and the mission of the office. It may also require some statewide travel to affiliated academic campuses and health systems to address issues related to the academic mission and goals of the office.
