Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required with preferred focus in behavioral or health sciences, health care or related field.

Training, degree or certification in phlebotomy or related field preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Phlebotomy skills required, with minimum 2 years recent phlebotomy experience preferred.

Experience in a human subjects research environment following strict sample processing protocols preferred.

Minimum 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

License or Certificate:


Position Summary:

Provide oversight to survey phlebotomists at sites in Madison, Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin, securing sample collection sites, monitoring schedules, and assuring adherence to strict study protocol. Provide back-up phlebotomy and processing.
The Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW) is an initiative of the Department of Population Health Sciences in the School of Medicine & Public Health at UW Madison. The project's objective is to create a permanent database of the health of the population and communities within Wisconsin, as well as to provide an infrastructure for conducting additional population-based health studies. Phlebotomists conduct appointments with study participants to collect blood, urine and other biologic samples, process samples for storage, and facilitate proper record-keeping.
