Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Board eligible or certified Neurosurgeon. Fellowship or equivalent training preferred.

Academic credentials and experience for appointment at the selected rank of a tenure-track or tenured appointment in School of Medicine and Public Health track at the University of Wisconsin. Appointment at the rank of associate or full professor rank requires meeting criteria for appointment level as defined in School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to associate professor or professor on the tenure track.

License or Certificate:

Licensed or eligible for Wisconsin medical license. Board eligible or certified in Neurological Surgery.

Position Summary:

The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a research oriented brain tumor neurosurgeon to join our program at UW Hospitals, VA Hospital and UW Health clinics. The position includes opportunities for clinical, research and teaching activities in an academic environment collaborating with neurosurgeons and faculty in radiation and medical oncology, neuroradiology, neuropsychology and basic science departments. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in clinical and research neuro-oncology. Clinical activities will involve surgery, outpatient clinics and attending service on neurosurgery inpatient and consult services at University of Wisconsin Hospitals, the VA Hospital, community hospitals and clinics. Research duties include developing an independent, extramurally funded research program in tumor neurosurgery in collaboration with faculty in the Carbone Cancer Center and other departments. Teach and mentor undergraduate, medical student, graduate student, fellows and residents. Participate in regional education programs for community physicians as well as participate and help develop plan to expand tumor neurosurgery clinical program.
