Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's Degree in communications, English, graphic design, video production, journalism or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

- Minimum of three (3) or more years of professional experience in communications, digital marketing or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.

- Strong written and oral communication skills with proven hands-on experience in the field.

- Proficient with markup languages and styles including HTML and CSS. Knowledge of web development principles and practices. Understanding of diversity and cultural competencies.

- Ability to work with limited supervision, proven writing and editing experience, as well as an understanding of Web and social media metrics to inform editorial and brand development as it pertains to diversity in higher education.

-Professional understanding of platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Foursquare, YouTube, WordPress and Tumblr.

-Familiarity with and demonstrated use of social media metric tools including, but not limited to, Sprout Social, Hashtracker and Statagram.

-Understanding of Associated Press editorial style, the Macintosh platform, and Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress and Excel in particular.

-An understating of current best practices in diversity and equity in higher education

Position Summary:

This position will focus on brand management and digital media integration to promote programs and activities in accordance with administrative, event and divisional activities with DDEEA, current students, alumni and other key stakeholders, with support from and reporting to the Director of Communications. This position will play a key role on the Communications Team in web and social media development, content management, and marketing.

Additional Information:

The successful candidate will also have the following essential skills and qualities:
- The ability to successfully plan and manage at the strategic and operational levels
- Experience creating social, video and photo content, along with tools to manage, measure and archive digital assets
- Exceptional news and storytelling judgment
- Creativity and a sense of humor
- An understanding of branding and how it is supported by visual imagery
- Strong time-management and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven, highly detail-oriented environment
- Familiarity with tools such as WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro
- The ability to work collaboratively in planning and executing projects with staff and campus partners
- Ability to assist in assessing emerging social platforms and new analytics tools
