Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred; preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Public Health, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

- 3 years of relevant work experience required.
- Experience in a medical, research or educational setting preferred.
- Experience coordinating Pre-award, fiscal and scientific resources for large research programs preferred.

Position Summary:

This position will manage and provide leadership for large multi-institutional and multi-investigator federal grant programs including the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) $5 million Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) within the UW Carbone Cancer Center. Provide program and administrative leadership, direction to program leaders, and coordination of the CCSG programs. This position has the primary responsibility for all activities related to the renewals, continuations, site visit rehearsals, and site visits for the NCI CCS grant, implementation of projects funded by the CCSG, coordination of leadership committees, coordination and supervision of pilot projects and limited submission applications, planning and execution of UWCCC special retreats, lectureships and other meetings/events and coordination and communication for the Cancer Center. The incumbent participates in strategic planning for the UWCCC and is responsible for many high-profile projects often requiring adherence to tight deadlines. As the subject matter expert on NCI CCSG guidelines, the incumbent is responsible for understanding, disseminating and implementing federal policies within all CCSG-funded activities. This position is critical to the overall strategic mission of the UWCCC.

(30%) CCSG Stewardship:
Directly manage generation and submission of all P30 CCSG competing and non-competing renewals, including supplements. Act as the administrative contact/liaison for the P30 CCSG. Ensure that principal investigators are kept aware of current and upcoming reporting and regulatory requirements. Oversee end-user needs with IT4C, in order to support financial, regulatory and NCI requests for data. Scan and track activities of members and non-member cancer research for reporting, renewal, and recruitment of new members across UW-Madison.

(30%) Financial Management:
Manages and enhances CCSG financial systems that provides timely and accurate information to leadership, RSP, and NCI. Provides financial management control structure for CCSG funding, which includes: monthly account reconciliation; effort cards for key personnel; carryover requests; closeout; and annual reports. In collaboration with finance and shared resource leadership, oversee development of budgets for the shared resources, including planning and implementation. Serves as primary contact and communicator for all effort, salary funding, and CCSG pilot reconciliation.

(20%) Program Development:
Provide support and leadership to UWCCC?s research programs. Develop and foster activities pertinent to program and senior leadership committee functions, which may include the following: senior leadership meetings; program meetings; research retreats; pilot reviews; integration of new members; and membership committee reviews. Regularly provide leadership with program metrics in publications; funding; and pilot outcomes.

(20%) Research Development:
Identify opportunities for collaborative and individual research among ?core members?. Track and utilize pilot outcome data. Optimize pilot systems, opportunities, and process, in order to maximize research funding outcomes and activity. Identify planned and newly released requests for proposals from NCI and other cancer relevant granting agencies. Assist multi-investigator proposal development (P01s, SPOREs, U grants) by generating requirements-driven outlines and proposal timelines, and milestone completion dashboards; monitoring progress at meeting the milestone deadlines; reviewing and editing proposal sections for consistency; and working with UWCCC pre-award in electronic submission.
