Job Summary:

The Epistemic Games Group (EGG), led by principal investigator (PI) David Williamson Shaffer, develops innovative learning technologies and studies novel methods for analyzing learning and other forms of complex thinking. Situated in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, EGG brings together faculty investigators, researchers, programmers, and designers, along with graduate and undergraduate students, to conduct cutting-edge research and development projects in partnership with other researchers, schools, informal education centers, and communities. Work at EGG is supported by research grants from the National Science Foundation and other funding agencies.

The Administrative Coordinator for EGG is the sole support staff in the group and is responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks that support all of the research team members. In addition to being the primary support staff, this position is an administrative liaison to the Department of Educational Psychology, the Wisconsin Center for Education Research administrative offices, other institutes of higher education, research collaborators, educators, and all other outside parties. This position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, other administrative officials, and the public.

The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for acquiring and maintaining extensive knowledge and information of the research program area in order to support the work of EGG staff. Establishing work priorities and planning such that assignments are completed with accuracy and promptness are essential to performing the duties of this position. Successful candidates will have an excellent understanding of the University environment, structure, requirements, etc., as well as technical proficiency and the ability to learn and troubleshoot new systems.

The person who will find this position most rewarding excels in managing a constantly changing work load in a fast-paced work environment, does not hesitate to take initiative, and demonstrates consistent follow-through, all while conveying a strong customer service attitude.

This one-year position may be extended or become permanent at a later time.

Schedule Comment:

7:45am - 4:30pm, 45 minutes lunch with some flexibility permitted.
