Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required in science education, environmental education, natural sciences, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least 5 years experience as a youth education professional. Program and team management skills are required. Prefer experience with field and inquiry-based learning and familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Wisconsin Educational standards.
Desirable: Teaching experience; community engagement; Spanish and writing fluency.

Position Summary:

The Pre-College and Community Education Specialist will support the mission of the Arboretum by promoting environmental literacy among audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As a member of the Arboretum Education team, this position will work with all Arboretum Units to develop and deliver creative and strategic programs based on the Arboretum's mission and strategic goals. The Pre-college & Community Education Specialist will assist to strengthen partnerships between the Arboretum and community and campus organizations, developing and delivering programs and educational materials that foster student exploration of the natural world.
