Job Summary:

The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 career staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing provides an inclusive and safe working environment that promotes engagement, empowerment, and professional development. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,400 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 3,000 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide conference group and youth camp housing throughout the summer months.

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

Dining and Culinary Services has locations in six buildings throughout campus including Markets, Convenience Stores, Catering, and Coffeehouses. Dining and Culinary Services provides affordable and innovative dining options to residents, guests, and staff

Under the general supervision of the Dining Assistant Manager, this position provides support for Housing's Dining Services Operation. This position will support University Housing's mission by contributing to the department goal of the creation of an exceptional customer experience through the delivery of extraordinary food in all service areas. The Dining Dishwasher will provide support for the dish room and pots and pans area in the Dining Halls. This includes working the scrape line, running the machine, trucking dishes, cleanliness of each area, and general day to day operations that are required for the dish room to function successfully.

Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.

Additional Requirements:

-Physical requirements: Long periods of standing and walking and frequent lifting of objects weighing approximately 50 pounds; frequent pulling and pushing of carts weighing approximately 200 pounds.

-A criminal background check will be conducted on all finalist(s).

-Previous cleaning or custodial experiences preferred.

-Experience working in a Restaurant or Food Service setting preferred.

Schedule Comment:

Multiple 1st and 2nd shift vacancies. Both full-time and part-time shifts available. Schedule will be determined upon hire.

Some change of shift hours may be necessary based on operational needs.

There is an additional $0.80/hour for night premium and $0.80/hour for weekend premium.
