Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree in a science required with a focus on Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum 1 year experience in a research lab as undergraduate.
- Must be highly motivated with excellent time management skills; ability to organize and maintain accurate records; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work in a team environment and laboratory setting.

Position Summary:

This research specialist will work closely with the principal investigator and senior laboratory scientist to perform experiments related to expressing fungal secondary metabolites, screening metabolites for anti-fungal properties and manipulating fungal genes for assessment of phenotype and virulence. Lab work is multi-disciplinary and will include molecular, microbiological, bioinformatics, and in vivo methods.

Additional Information:

Preferred Qualifications:

- A strong background in molecular biology, microbiology, and/or prior experience in experimental approaches to study fungal biology including any work on antifungal studies or fungal secondary metabolism is desired.
- Prior experience with microbiology and quantitative PCR is highly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and train others is desired.
