Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least 1-5 years in a role that demonstrates strong skills related to handling, cleaning, querying, aggregating, and distributing data. Ability to compile, distill and format data and information for dissemination to a range of users with varying levels of expertise. Experience identifying and correcting data-quality issues. Understanding of database management systems and querying methods. Experience that highlights strong attention to detail, accuracy and organization. Excellent written and oral communication skills. The following experience is preferred, but not required: Background working in higher education; usage of campus data systems (e.g., InfoAccess data warehouse, Student Information System); development of data visualizations and dashboards (e.g., Tableau); familiarity with university research processes (e.g., institutional review boards).

Position Summary:

This position plays a key role in enhancing the Office of the Registrar's ability to provide academic (student and curricular) data and information to the campus community to more effectively conduct university business and to support data-driven decisions. This position is tasked with distributing UW-Madison academic data and information in a variety of formats to campus stakeholders and the general public. This work includes, but is not limited to, queries that utilize the campus InfoAccess data warehouse, processes within the Student Information System, and tools to create and distribute data visualizations, reports, and datasets.
