Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Biology or related fields such as Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology required. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Prior experience in preparing and editing newsletters for stakeholder audience preferred. Prior experience in managing and curating website content preferred.

Position Summary:

The position of Fruit Team Associate Outreach Specialist will provide support to the UW-Madison fruit team by editing the WI Fruit Newsletter (https://fruit.wisc.edu/crop-management-newsletters/), managing the WI Fruit website (https://fruit.wisc.edu), and organizing workshops and webinars. The position involves interacting with a diverse group of researchers, fruit growers, students, and Extension workers throughout the state. Supervisors for this position are Dr. Amaya Atuch (Extension Specialist on fruit crop production) and Dr. Christelle Guedot (Extension Specialist on fruit crop entomology). The position will be located on the UW-Madison campus.

Additional Information:

Ability to work in a team environment, but be independent to accomplish required tasks and objectives will be needed. Experience and skill in writing is highly desireable. Must have and maintain a valid drivers license. Competency in using Microsoft Office and Wordpress or related web design software needed. Must be able to work closely with supervisors under very general supervision, keeing supervisor informed of progress, and work independently to complete tasks.

This position is initially expected to last until 03/14/2020, it may be extended up to two years or become renewable.
