The Research Animal Resources Center provides care and support for all research animals on the UW-Madison campus. We are seeking an energetic individual to be the newest member of our veterinary technician team. RARC veterinary technicians work with a wide variety of animal species, and they help support research across many different scientific disciplines.
RESEARCH SPECIALIST CALS/AGRONOMY Madison
This position is responsible for conducting supervised research in the cereals (Oat, Wheat, Barley) breeding and quantitative genetics group. The objective of this research program is to breed cereals for more sustainable agricultural systems by working on the study of complex quantitative traits and the development, comparison, and deployment of new methodologies for quantitative genetics data analysis for plant breeding. We use genomic data to unveiling new genetic diversity to deploy in breeding programs using state of the art phenotyping and genotyping platforms. The breeding and research program involves managing more than 10,000 small field plots in West Madison and Arlington Research Stations in Wisconsin, as well as specific tasks at other experimental stations and farms in Wisconsin under conventional and organic management practices.
