The Transitional Advising and Outreach Services unit of the Office of Academic Affairs in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is looking to add an outstanding individual to the team in the role of Student Services Coordinator. Responsibilities will primarily include the coordination of activities related to prospective students and families, including managing data related to the college’s enrollment goals, conducting outreach efforts to attract new students, and fostering strong relationships with partner units and organizations. There will also be a component of advising students on academic planning. The person selected will need to have skills in logistical planning of events and activities, and possess strong communication skills. Being able to work as part of a highly productive and functional team is a must.
LECTURER IN JEWISH STUDIES L&S/CTR FOR JEWISH STUDIES Madison
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies is searching for a Lecturer in Jewish Studies for the spring 2018 semester to teach "Hebrew 302: Introduction to Hebrew Literature/Hebrew 402: Topics in Hebrew Literature" (one combined course). Taught in Hebrew, this course helps UW students develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in modern Hebrew. A master's degree is required; a Ph.D. is preferred. Candidate should have demonstrated Hebrew language teaching skills, including the ability to lecture and lead interactive discussions and activities. Ideal candidate will have had one or more years of college-level teaching experience, with a record of positive student evaluations.

This position involves teaching two 75-minutes lectures per week, preparing course materials, administering/grading assignments, and holding office hours. A master's degree is required for this position; a Ph.D. or ABD status in Jewish Studies or a related humanities discipline (such as, but not limited to, philosophy, religious studies or history) is preferred. Under close progressing to limited supervision, the incumbent will perform routine and non-routine procedures for indicator and pathogenic organisms in the Water Microbiology Unit at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, 2601 Agriculture Dr., Madison using microscopic, culture, traditional and quantitative polymerase chain reaction methods. One of the incumbent primary roles will be to share responsibilities for preparing and performing quality control procedures on testing media for the entire laboratory.

The incumbent will perform routine and complex procedures for indicator and pathogenic organisms in the Water Microbiology Unit using microscopic, culture, traditional and quantitative polymerase chain reaction methods and develop and implement methods using molecular methods for research projects. Quality control and quality assurance functions will be performed to insure that the units are always in compliance with all applicable regulations. The incumbent will assist with data analysis and reporting associated with routine samples and research projects.
ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICOLOGIST WSLH\ENVIRN SC\BIOM CONTR Madison
This position is responsible for whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing, collection of water samples for WET testing, culturing and testing of water fleas, fish and algae used for toxicity testing. All Environmental Toxicology lab duties are shared by all employees and require excellent communication and team skills. The employee will be responsible for collecting effluent samples from permitees such as sewage treatment plants, paper mills, oil refineries and the like.
