ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AND DIRECTOR OF ORCHESTRAL ACTIVITIES L&S/MEADWITTER SCHOOL OF MUSIC Madison
The Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track conducting faculty and Director of Orchestral Activities position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2019. The successful candidate will conduct the UW-Madison Symphony Orchestra and opera productions, teach orchestral conducting at the undergraduate and graduate levels, educate and mentor successful graduate-level conductors, establish a national and international profile as a conductor and scholar through creative research activity, mentor and serve on graduate degree committees, and provide leadership and service within the School, College, and University. Responsibilities as Director of Orchestral Activities will include selecting educative and innovative repertoire, overseeing orchestra auditions and concerto competition, providing guidance in area(s) of scholarly and artistic expertise, and demonstrating leadership in the recruitment activities of the School of Music. The successful candidate will be a superb musician with exceptional interpersonal skills.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF TRUMPET L&S/MEADWITTER SCHOOL OF MUSIC Madison
The Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Trumpet faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2019. The faculty seek a highly motivated, engaged, and creative performer who will join colleagues at the Mead Witter School of Music who value collaboration, innovation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in their shared work of preparing student musicians for a variety of careers. Successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of an emerging national/international performing career and have previous college-level teaching experience. The School welcomes applicants who may have other areas of expertise including, but not limited to, new music, electro-acoustic music, music business and entrepreneurship, early music, arranging, non-Western music, and jazz. Candidates will be expected to contribute vigorously to the School’s educational, research and outreach missions; to recruit and teach a diverse student body of undergraduate and graduate students; to carry out creative scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track position; to perform in the School’s Wisconsin Brass Quartet; to advise and mentor students and serve on graduate degree committees; and to carry out leadership and service within the School, College, and University.
