The Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) is hiring a Scientist to focus on the design and development of the IceCube Gen2 Expansion at the South Pole. IceCube Gen2 will dramatically increase its capabilities to detect high energy neutrinos for study of astronomical phenomena such as emissions from active galactic nuclei, gamma ray bursts, or supernova shock remnants. For the IceCube Gen2 Phase-1 Upgrade, this Scientist will spearhead the detailed design, assembly and operation of prototype cylindrical multi-PMT modules ready for deployment in late 2022. In parallel, the Scientist will work to define and document details of an optimized design for PMT modules and associated data acquisition system architecture, for the subsequent full IceCube Gen2 Expansion.
