ASSISTANT SCIENTIST summary: The UW-Madison Carbone Cancer Center is seeking a Scientist to work with the Principal Investigator and be responsible for developing new methodologies and methods of analysis in Dr. Doug McNeel's lab. The goal of this research is to develop the immune based treatments for cancer using cancer vaccines through experimental methods, including development of new methods and new methods of analysis, in murine animal models, and analysis, in murine animal models, and analysis of specimens from human clinical trials. A PhD in Biological Science or other closely related field is required along with prior experience with murine tumor models, immunological methods of analysis, flow cytometry, and DNA sequencing methodologies. This faculty will pursue an academic career in Molecular Imaging and Radiotheranostics at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor on the CT or CHS Track, with opportunities for leadership roles in our Radiology Department within the Nuclear Medicine Section and University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Additional opportunities also may arise for clinical work in subspecialty radiology sections ( CV, Chest, Abdominal, etc.) are available for candidates eligible for ABR certification in DR. The University of Wisconsin Section of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging provides image interpretation of a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures including positron emission tomography (PET) examinations. The section is composed of experts in multiple areas including general nuclear medicine and PET imaging, nuclear cardiology, PET/MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and the imaging and treatment of patients with thyroid cancer. Therapies in patients with various forms of cancer are routinely performed with unsealed sources, such as radioactive iodine in patients with thyroid disease and 177-Lu-DOTATATE for patients with neuroendocrine tumors. The section is part of an expanding theranostics program using both clinically approved and investigational agents. This is a growing area with plan for a future theranostics center. The section has state-of-the-art imaging equipment including PET/CT, PET/MR, and SPECT/CT.
