Position Summary:

The Department of Engineering Physics in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in nuclear engineering. Exceptional candidates in all areas related to materials in nuclear engineering applications will be considered.

The department has identified a strategic priority in computational modeling and simulation of materials in extreme environments, including development and validation of mesoscale modeling techniques, applications of data science to the prediction of material properties particularly across modeling scales, and integration of experimental and simulation data to materials engineering. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in these or related areas is desired. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with state-of-the-art modeling and simulation tools for materials in the extreme environments of nuclear energy systems.

The new hire will have a tenure home in the Department of Engineering Physics and will join a faculty community in the Institute for Nuclear Energy Systems with diverse research interests related to nuclear energy applications. As a member of a vibrant nuclear materials research community, the new hire will have many opportunities to establish collaborations with both experimental and computational research groups already active on the UW campus.
