Position Summary:

Dr. Matt Ruark's Nutrient Cycling and Agroecosystems laboratory (UW Dept of Soil Science) is seeking a temporary employee for our summer season. This agricultural research emphasizes cover cropping in row crops and soil fertility management in vegetable systems. Duties for this position include collection, preparation, and analysis of plant and soil samples, specifically soil and plant biomass sampling and grinding, soil extraction (basic laboratory procedure), and organizational/archive work. The desired applicant will be punctual for early mornings, have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and willing to work both independently and with others.
This is a full-time position (30-40 hrs/week) starting early or mid-May, and continuing through October 2021. Students graduating in May are encouraged to apply. Applications are due by April 9th; interviews will be rolling (Apply early--good candidates will be hired ASAP).

Additional Information:

Must be able to pass UW driving requirements.
Must be able to work outdoors in weather extremes (please consider any allergies to grass or ragweed pollen).
Must be able to work in a dusty environment.
Must be able to arrive on campus very early in the morning.
Must have some flexibility in your work schedule for long days.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs. repeatedly and stand/stay on feet 8 hours at a time.
