Position Summary:
The Department of Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the areas of experimental or theoretical condensed matter physics. Successful candidates will connect with existing Departmental research activity in the fields of solid-state quantum information processing and strongly correlated materials and will expand into complementary areas, including mesoscopic devices and quantum transport, low-dimensional electronic systems, quantum many-body physics, and topological materials. Candidates must have a proven track record of innovation and high-impact research and are expected to build a vigorous, well-funded research program with international profile. The successful applicant will hold the Dunson Cheng Assistant Professor of Physics title with associated gift funds for the duration of their term as an Assistant Professor.
Principal Duties:
The candidate will be expected to perform teaching at all levels. Undergraduate and graduate classroom and individual instruction as well as supervision of graduate thesis research are required. Candidate will be expected to conduct high-impact scholarly research as well as provide service to the department, college, university and academic community nationally or internationally.
