Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work within the UW-Madison General Library System's Shared Development Group to develop applications in support of public access to digital materials and to develop tools to find material in archival collections. The developer will participate in the application design and project teams and will contribute to architectural design discussions.

Qualifications:

Required:
- Experience in application programming using Ruby on Rails.

Preferred:
- Experience with XML.
- Experience working effectively with a cross-functional team to plan and complete information technology projects.
- Experience with and competency desired in developing web applications that extend or integrate with existing applications, interfaces, and APIs.

The Shared Development Group comprises 8 developers who build and support library applications that range from search, browse and delivery tools for library resources, to integrations with campus enterprise systems, to digital resources management and preservation workflows. We work closely with a team of system administrators who support our production and development environments.
