Job Summary:

Operate basic agricultural equipment required for seed potato production on the UW Lelah Stark Seed Potato Farm. Will aid in grading, cutting, planting, and harvesting tasks as time permits. Will participate in cleaning activities, sanitizing surfaces and equipment as needed to ensure program standards are met.

Responsibilities: Operates basic agricultural equipment and performs physical labor to maintain institutional agriculture in support of institutional goals.
  • 60% Operates, cleans, and repairs basic agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations
  • 15% Stages equipment and machines in preparation of agricultural activities
  • 10% Maintains organization of designated facilities and associated supplies, notifies appropriate entities of damaged materials or the need for supply replenishment
  • 5% Documents completion of duties according to established policies and procedures
  • 5% May perform general farm labor
  • 5% Performs sanitation in compliance with standard operating procedures for limiting plant disease

Qualifications:

Candidate should have experience operating basic agricultural equipment required for seed potato production on the UW Lelah Stark Seed Potato Farm. Experience in prepping, cleaning and basic repairs of equipment is a plus. The candidate would also be required to aid in grading, cutting, planting, and harvesting tasks as time permits. Person in the role would also participate in cleaning activities, sanitizing surfaces and equipment as needed to ensure program standards are met.

Work Schedule:

Seasonal temporary position typically from mid-March through May, and again early-September through early-November with a max of 1044 hours worked in a calendar year. Work can be part to full time during these periods. Standard work hours are between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday ? Friday but occasional requests will be made for early evening/weekend work during planting/harvesting periods.

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.

Salary:

Minimum $16.75 HOURLY
