Are you adaptable, customer service-focused and love finding solutions for computer problems? The Social Science Computing Cooperative is looking for a team member to provide endpoint support to faculty, staff, and graduate students at UW-Madison. They will work closely with a small team to develop creative solutions to technical problems in support of research. The person for this position will set up, upgrade, and integrate computers through an automated imaging process, and help troubleshoot hardware and software issues for Windows and macOS computers. They should have enthusiasm for helping people with varying degrees of technical understanding and possess a desire to learn and collaborate. Proficient oral and written communication skills and a commitment to great customer service will help this person be successful.
The principal duties for this position are:
- Troubleshoot problems for computers (macOS and Windows) and other peripherals in a managed environment
- Manage Windows and macOS endpoints using endpoint management platforms
- Support a wide variety of software applications
- Research and make recommendations on the procurement of new hardware and software
- Serve as resource for individuals and groups to learn about SSCC services
- Develop creative solutions to problems and be proactive in suggesting solutions that will facilitate teaching, learning, and research
- Create and maintain internal documentation

or 2+ years of relevant experience
- One year experience supporting Windows and macOS endpoints, including installing operating systems and troubleshooting computer hardware issues
- Experience in a customer service focused environment
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
