The Envision Healthy Equitable Communities Community Health Workers (CHW) Training and Technical Assistance Center (ENVISION) supports the critical role of CHWs and their health equity work in COVID response and recovery. This position will facilitate communities of practice and support CHW program and CHW training as part of ENVISION's national team of partners.
ENVISION (www.envisionequity.org) provides training and technical assistance nationwide for 68 organizations implementing 'Community Health Workers for COVID-19 Response and Resilient Communities' - a Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) funded CHW initiative that supports populations at high risk of adverse health outcomes and communities most impacted by COVID-19 (https://www.cdc.gov/covid-community-health-workers/index.html).
The funding is intended to address:
- Disparities in access to COVID-19 related services, such as testing, contact tracing, and immunization.
- Factors that increase risk of severe COVID-19 illness, such as chronic diseases, smoking, and pregnancy.
- Community needs that have been exacerbated by COVID-19, such as health and mental health care access and food insecurity.
The Mobilizing Action Toward Community Health (MATCH) group at the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute in the School of Medicine and Public Health, partners with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to provide leadership to Envision Equity CHW Training and Technical Assistance Center. The Envision Center aims to enhance public health's capacity to train, deploy, and engage the Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce and create a sustained structure that will continue to impact health equity long after this CDC project ends.
The position is located at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is fully remote. Wisconsin residency is not required.
