Job Summary:

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a headache trained neurologist interested in pursuing an academic career and joining our headache program. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include teaching and/or research.

Responsibilities:

Clinical responsibilities include outpatient clinics, procedures, and inpatient attending at UW Health Hospitals and Clinics and affiliated locations.

Academic responsibilities include teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows as well as teaching continuing education programs for physicians and the public.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

For appointment at the CHS Track: Duties will either be approximately 80% clinical, 10% extramurally funded research, and 10% teaching or approximately 80% clinical, 20% extramurally funded research, depending on the successful candidate. The successful candidate will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.

For appointment at the CT Track: Duties will be approximately 90% clinical, 10% teaching, depending on the successful candidate.

Qualifications:

Must have completed neurology residency, fellowship trained in headache or equivalent experience. Must have a WI medical license by the time of appointment. Must be ABPN or AOBNP board eligible or certified in Neurology.

For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on the Clinician Teacher Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

The Department of Neurology has over 60 faculty and 25 advanced practice providers located at 20 S. Park/Meriter Hospital, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and UW Health Clinics. This is a diverse group of generalists and specialists that provides primary, secondary, and tertiary inpatient and outpatient care. This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every two years.

This position has been identified as a position that will be located in or regularly access UW Health locations. This position will need to adhere to UW Health policies and affiliated requirements. UW Health requires that anyone (all staff, faculty students, volunteers, and other affiliated individuals) working in or regularly accessing UW Health locations receive the COVID-19 primary vaccination series and first booster. This position will be required to adhere to that policy and if not in full compliance to have a plan for achieving full compliance within 40 days of the first day of employment.
