The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) General Desktop Support (GDS) team serves the administrative, academic, and research technology support needs of students, departments, and faculty/staff on the UW Madison campus. This position works under the general guidance of the Associate Director of Departmental Support and the GDS Team Lead. Departmental Support technicians perform technology troubleshooting for a wide variety of technology-driven devices, services, and solutions supporting the goals and mission of the university. In a typical year, more than 70 unique departments are supported by this team. As a Desktop Support technician, you will work with a variety of campus customers to assist in the planning, deployment, and daily support of endpoints in use around campus. This will involve resolving customer issues, documenting work within an incident management system, and deploying new and replacement systems for a diverse customer and product base. The responsibilities also include acting as a technology liaison between these departments and other technology organizations. This position requires an individual who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a broad knowledge of general IT concepts, principles, practices, and techniques. The ideal candidate has experience spanning multiple technologies across network, hardware, and software platforms.

INSTUMENTATION TECHNOLOGIST I WSLH/NADP Madison
Assemble, test, trouble-shoot, and maintain electrical systems and mechanical components in environmental monitoring and communications equipment (precipitation collectors, gages, gaseous monitors). Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate electrical/mechanical function of equipment and components. Calibrate instrumentation, build electronic devices using electrical schematics, inspect electronic components and wire harnesses for problems, and maintain or repair electronic and mechanical components. Essential Duties and Responsibilities -Repair and replace defective components in motors, controllers, batteries, conductors, switches and other electronic fixtures. -Perform sampling and special studies at field sites and maintain field equipment as required. -Construct and repair electrical circuits as appropriate. -Read and interpret schematics, including wiring diagrams and engineering drawings. -Conduct tests and assessments of new electrical and mechanical systems and repairs to ensure quality. -Perform preventative maintenance and advise management on suitability of fabrication for electrical test equipment, appliances and apparatus. -Requisition electrical supplies and equipment. -Assess systems and suggest modifications to prevent future issues. -Troubleshoot effectively, performing high quality, robust repairs. -Seek the solution that is most cost effective without compromising quality. -Maintain all equipment in excellent working order. -Use hand and power tools, soldering iron to construct and repair equipment. -Communicate estimated timelines for repairs to those impacted. -Comply with safety standards and regulations. -Work directly with field operators to help determine equipment issues.
HEALTH TECHNOLOGIST - ENVIRONMENTAL WSLH/EHD OPERATIONS Madison
The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin. This position independently provides a wide variety of program support for the Environmental Health Division at the WSLH's Agriculture Drive location in Madison. This position functions as part of our internal and external customer support team, providing general and technical support to lab personnel, state and federal agencies and private citizens.
