Position Summary:

Faculty physicians care for 1,100 children each year in the 21 bed PICU at the UW Health American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH). Recent and projected growth in the pediatric heart program requires a faculty member that can provide dedicated care to cardiac surgery patients in the critical care unit. This individual will also provide teaching to a variety of learners and execution of research/scholarly activities.

Principal Duties:

Principal duties include:
- Provide clinical care in the PICU, including care for post-operative cardiac patients.
- Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.
- Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest to the candidate and the division. These pursuits can take many forms and will often be executed in conjunction with clinical activities, but are not limited to that venue.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or equivalent, completion of US pediatric residency and relevant fellowship

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of US pediatric residency and fellowship programs. Interest in academic medicine, involving teaching to a variety of learners is essential. Experience caring for pediatric cardiac surgery patients in an academic medical setting preferred.

Candidates for associate professor or full professor rank on the CHS tracks must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on their designated track.

License or Certificate:

WI medical licensure; BC/BE in pediatrics required
