Position Summary:

This position functions as the Small Animal Facilities Manager of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). Requires the initiative to independently follow through with technical responsibilities and in ensuring programmatic responsibilities are carried out. Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

1) Oversees daily receiving schedules, provides assistance and initiates changes as needed.
2) Directs as the kennel manager in the coordination of Kennel Crew and Operating Room (OR) cleaners in the VMTH (training, scheduling and monitoring the work of this support staff)
3) Contributes to and participates in team building by assisting in problem-solving.
4) Develops knowledge and responsibility in area of specialization to include maintenance of special equipment, instructing others in use and care, assisting clinician and students in procedures.
5) Monitors inventories of food, equipment and supplies for the care of inpatient and outpatient animals in the Small Animal Hospital.

The work is performed under limited supervision.

Highly qualified candidates will have had hands-on experience with animals, prior similar experience preferred.

English Proficiency Required - This position requires one or more of the following abilities: ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand verbal instructions in English.

Good leadership skills and independent worker. Ability to function calmly in stressful situations and to work cooperatively with other people. Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.
