This position will aid Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) who are engaged in the care of patients of Primary Care, Special Species, Ophthalmology, ER, and the Intermediate Care Ward patients at the UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). The incumbent is not a Certified Veterinary Technician, he/she is limited to assisting in duties which require licensure by the State of Wisconsin. The work is performed under close supervision. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Assists with and executes the preparation, completion, and documentation of basic technical animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity 2. Cleans and maintains organization of animal holding spaces, work areas and equipment 3. Inventories and organizes supplies 4. Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing 5. Assists with routine laboratory tests and specimen collection according to established medical orders and care plans 6. Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities 7. Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions

Degree and Area of Specialization:
H.S. Diploma - Preferred Minimum
Desire to obtain degree in Veterinary Technology - Preferred
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
- Basic animal handling skills
- Knowledge of good client-relation principles - Ability to follow written and verbal rules and instructions accurately - Experience in Veterinary hospital setting or referral practice with animal handling experience preferred
English Proficiency Required - This position requires one or more of the following abilities: ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand verbal instructions in English Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform required tasks.

Week 1: Wednesday 8:00AM-6:00PM; Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 7:00AM-5:00PM
Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:00AM-5:00PM Will include rotating holiday schedule and possible on call weekday/weekend shifts. Weekend differential and holiday pay.
