Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for a generalist pathologist to provide clinical services to our growing health system. The successful candidate will be appointed as a member of the department on the clinician-teacher track at the Clinical Assistant/Associate/Professor level.

Principal Duties:

This position will provide pathology services to a community hospital in Madison, WI, and possibly to regional outreach sites. There will be an opportunity to participate in the Surgical Pathology subspecialty diagnostic service at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics. A large component of the job will include sign out on the Surgical Pathology service. Clinical pathology services will be limited to on call and outreach service as and when needed. The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. While research is not the focus of the position, the University provides ample opportunities for collaborative translational research.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

-M.D., D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. is required with training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
-Surgical Pathology Fellowship trained candidates will be given preference. Interest/training in Genitourinary, Head and Neck, Endocrine and/or Gastrointestinal and Liver pathology is desirable

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Training in general surgical pathology required.
-Practice experience in surgical pathology is preferred.
-Surgical Pathology Fellowship trained candidates will be given preference. Interest/training in Genitourinary, Head and Neck, Endocrine and/or Gastrointestinal and Liver pathology is desirable
-Candidates for clinical associate professor or clinical professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the Clinician-Teacher track.

License or Certificate:

-Candidates must be board certified in AP/CP, and be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.
