This position provides direct executive level administrative support to the Chair of the Department of Medicine (DOM) and for the business and administrative operations and goals of a large clinical and academic department.
The Department consists of approximately 420 faculty (mostly physicians), 255 clinical adjunct (volunteer) faculty, 160 house staff, and 380 academic staff and university staff. This position is responsible for the coordination of complex daily clinical, academic, administrative, and research activities, as well as the coordination and organization of the Chair's communications, meeting planning, and organization of travel. Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
At least 2 years of providing executive leadership support is required.
Professional level and highly efficient use of Microsoft Office is required. Experience in a healthcare or academic setting is preferred.
This position is privy to confidential records and conversation. Duties may include sensitive issues that require individual initiative, independent judgment and discretion.
Professional communications, workplace sensitivity, and workplace diplomacy are essential, as well as excellent administrative, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be expected to have, or quickly develop, considerable knowledge of, and experience with, UW Health and University policies and procedures. The candidate will also be expected to manage the operational details of a Department within an academic medical center and frequently interface with other medical centers, academic institutions, and administrative entities.
