FLEX VETERINARY TECHNICIAN: INTERMEDIATE CARE WARD

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing care to patients in the Intermediate Care Ward (ICW) of the UW Veterinary Care hospital (UWVC). This position will work with various domestic and occasional exotic/special species. Employees will help with other departments at UWVC depending on operational needs.

The ICW is slated to open on November 1, 2020.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

No degree required
Degree in Animal Health or a Veterinary Technology program preferred, or currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technology program

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Experience as a Veterinary Technician or working with animal patients in a hospital setting is beneficial

License or Certificate:

Certification as Wisconsin Veterinary Technician (CVT) or eligibility to obtain within 12 months

Additional Information:

Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.

This position is posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level is determined by qualifications based on type of prior veterinary tech experience.

To qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad or awaiting to sit for the CVT exam, or some CVT working experience with no specialization.

To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 3 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.

To qualify for Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from another university hospital.
