The Scientist will work with the Principal Investigator in research related to hematopoiesis and inherited predisposition to cancer in the UW Laboratory of Jane Churpek, MD, MS at the UW CarboneCancer Center. The laboratory research focuses on understanding the role of germline genetics in normal hematopoiesis and predisposition to bone marrow failure and cancer. The position requires the ability to perform tasks independently and with minimal supervision. Collaborations with other laboratories and investigators within the Section and Department and outside the institution are routine.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
A bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, Medical Technology, Biochemistry or related discipline required. Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years laboratory experience is required.
- Previous mouse husbandry, flow cytometry and cell culture experience are ideal. - Must have good working knowledge of basic biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and computer skills. - Knowledge of hematopoiesis is ideal. - Excellent organizational, interpersonal, strong oral and written communication skills are essential. - Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks. Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 7 years' experience is required for appointment at the senior level.

- Hepatitis B vaccination is strongly encouraged at the time of hire. Work experience should demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and maturity.
