The Administrative Program Specialist will provide a wide range of research support (primarily pre-award) for the faculty, academic staff and student researchers in the Department of Computer Sciences. This position will work directly with researchers for the purposes of grant planning and oversight of ongoing research. This position requires the ability to identify suitable funding areas, work with faculty to develop research proposals, integrate basic science and computer science activities within the written proposals and clarify concepts and approaches described in the research proposals, as well as coordinating regular research staff meetings. This position also requires a thorough knowledge of grant proposal development, grant administration and the conduct of research as well as initiative and personal accountability to meet deadlines and workload.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Prefer at least one year experience in a Computer Science, research or academic setting. Previous experience in research grant activities, including substantial involvement in research or sponsored programs administration, with knowledge of federal regulations for the conduct of basic science research and patent regulations preferred. Must have strong analytical and writing skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with faculty, researchers and staff at all levels.
