Position Summary:

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

University Housing is an essential services provider and all University Housing employees are part of this commitment to our residents and guests. University Housing is unique from many other state agencies and university departments because we cannot close as our services must be maintained at all times.

The University Housing Human Resources department serves all Housing employee categories - full time, student, and temporary. Departmental scope ranges from payroll/benefits, to overseeing a robust student employment program and to recruitment, employee relations, leave of absences for the full time staff. The Department is comprised of 16 members, plus student employees.

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Employment Manager, this position is responsible for managing the administrative and recruitment functions within the University Housing Employment team. This position also assists with the management of the custom online application system and marketing efforts for career and student employment. Responsibilities also include compiling and analyzing data, as well as general human resources support. This position ensures all duties are performed in compliance with complex policies, procedures and laws.

This position provides classification services to divisional managers, performs complex salary calculations and provides technical expertise on pay classifications. Coordinates recruitments for full time, temporary, fixed-term positions and student employment.

This position is privy to confidential records and conversations that directly affect the employer-employee relationship referred to in 111.81(7) Wisconsin Statutes. The incumbent in this role will organize activities, prepare documents, schedule and participate in meetings, collect and direct information for Human Resources that by their sensitive and confidential nature include management activities and decisions that directly affect staff.

The position requires independence of action and decision making authorirty, initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and an ability to effectively communicate with people in tense situations. The incumbent in this position is expected to exercise a high level of administrative, problem solving and analytic ability as well as solid human resources guidance.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources is preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experiences.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Previous Human Resources experience is required.
Experience with Full Life Cycle recruitment, student employment or seasonal employment preferred.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or the ability to obtain in the first year.
